What happens during a Reiki treatment?
You will have time to talk to your therapist to discuss why you have sought a Reiki treatment. You will have to read and fill out an information form asking for contact details and a brief medical history. You will remain fully clothed, only removing your shoes and glasses (if you wear them). You will be lying on a couch or sitting comfortably in a quiet peaceful environment. The treatment is given by the practitioner placing their hands gently on the head or body or holding them over the body. Your system will take as much Reiki energy as it needs using it in whatever way it deems most appropriate at the time.
You may feel warmth, gentle tingling, coolness, be aware of colours or nothing at all other than a deep sense of relaxation.
How often do I need to have a Reiki treatment?
Although a single Reiki treatment can make a difference it is usually more effective to have a course of regular sessions. These can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on your needs. A treatment plan will be discussed with you and reviewed regularly. It will be subject to your own preferences and can be changed according to the progress made.
Can anyone learn Reiki?
Everyone can ‘learn’ to channel Reiki and treat themselves and others. All that is needed is a desire to learn and to attend a course during which you will receive the ‘attunements’ which will open a connection to allow you to be harmonised to the Reiki energy. This connection will improve through practice and by self-treating. Courses are run by Reiki Master Teachers and you can receive attunements to whatever level you desire: First Degree, Second Degree, Third Degree or Master Teacher.
What is the format of a Reiki course?
I run 1:1 or group Reiki courses throughout the year. If you are interested please e-mail me for further information - lorena.neep@btconnect.com
What will I learn in a First Degree Reiki Course?
Over this 2 day course you will receive 4 attunements which will allow the healing Reiki energy to flow within your body and you will learn:
- The history of Reiki
- How Reiki works
- The Reiki Ideals
- What to treat
- How to give a self-treatment
- How to treat family and friends
All the information will be included in a manual that you can take home and refer to in your own time. A certificate will be issued to you on completion of the attunements and practice treatments which you will undertake over the two days.
It is recommended that you leave a three month gap between the First Degree and Second Degree attunements. This time lapse will allow you to gain sufficient practice in treating yourself and others and will ensure that your system is used to the higher vibrational energy from the initial attunement.
There is no need for you to receive a Second Degree attunement if you do not wish to.
What will I learn in a Second Degree Reiki Course?
Over this two day course you will receive 1 attunement and be shown three symbols (listed below) and have it explained to you how the symbols work and learn how to use them.
- The Distance symbol which will allow you to send Reiki to people not in the room with you / empower projects either presently or in the future / send Reiki energy to events in the past etc.
- The Power symbol is used to reinforce a physical treatment and make it more powerful / to provide protection / to clear a room of negative energy etc.
- The Mental / Emotional symbol will allow you to work on emotional levels for yourself or your clients / help release negative emotions / help lose unwanted habits / acquire good habits etc.
All the information will be included in a manual that you can take home and refer to in your own time. A certificate will be issued to you on completion of the attunement, practice treatments and other practical work which you will undertake over the two days.
There is no need for you to undertake a Master Practitioner / Teacher attunement if you do not wish to.
It is recommended that a six month gap is left between taking the Second Degree and Master level attunements to allow integration of the shift in energy you will experience.
What will I learn in a Master Practitioner/Teacher Reiki Course?
This two part degree will give you access to the Master symbol which will greatly increase the strength of the healing you do with Reiki. You will also be shown two Tibetan symbols which will further add to the power and range of your healing abilities.
To teach Reiki you will also receive training in the attunement process and be given practical help on teaching Reiki and running your own courses.
Sufficient time should be given between being attuned to Second Degree Reiki and Master level to allow the energy shifts to be fully integrated and so that practical experience can be gained.
